Diary Entry - 7/Dec/07

Today, we firstly went to the staffroom. Shelley and Alex were waiting for us and then Cristian arrived 1 minute 30 seconds late. Cristian and I then asked Alex whether we can finish off our blog we weren't able to write yesterday.
Then, we had a chat time - 'morning tea' where we ate the fruit mince tart etc and apple juice. Then we wrote greetings - 'Happy New Year' & 'Merry Christian' on the letters and also the addresses on the envelopes. Then, as Alex and Shelley were down at the print room, we went to the library and tidied the children's' section. Then we came back finishing the shelf tidy exactly at 12:30. Then we had our lunch break. ^ Frances - the slim and young library manager
At 1:00 we went down to the library and worked at the desk to start off with. We worked about 1 hour. Then, Alan came to visit us and we talked together while working. After a while, I was asked by Alex to print a small sized paper into an A3 paper. We had some trouble adjusting the options and putting the money cards into the system for printing. Then, Cristian came and cut the papers into the right size and I helped him at the end. At this time Everyone was so busy making the Christmas tree and decorating the notice.

Then at 2:15 we went up to the staffroom to write our blogs and take photos of the staff members. Here, Cristian went down to the library and take some more photos Because nearlt everyone was busy down at the library.

This is my last blog of the whole work experience and I found the entire experience good and helpful. Every one at the work seemed satisfied and happy about their jobs and it was clear that they enjoy the works.

Today, I had to be a bit late to arrive at the Haberfield Library. After I arrive everyone had just started to take off the old papers & pins. Together, we finished off the work and started working on the new decoration. Cristian decorated the biggest board but his one was the worst because he didn't have enough posters to fill the board.

Kathy Who was meant to come at 11 o'clock came late, but we weren't really late to the Ashfield Library anyway because we worked 30 minutes - mainly because of we couldn't sign in to the blogs.

When we came to Ashfield Library, we went lunch first and then we were at desk. I spent most of the time shelving the books etc and the newpaper sorting.

Today, I was a bit late - roughly about 30minutes. I firstly ran into the staffroom and found Alex who told me to go down staires. So I went down and luckily met Helen and other work experience friends. I was explained about the things I missed because I was late. Helen told us many things about the council such as where the meeting is held, where the reports are made, who dose what work etc.

She then took us to the office and we met some of the council members who showed us how a PC Printer works and then where the records are stored.

After the lunchtime, we went at the desk and did works there

Today, we went to the Haberfield Library striaght in the morning at 10 o'clock to be ready for the Christmas morning tea where we met the housebounded people (mostly the old ladies). It was a good experience for us to talk with them and take photos.

We weren't very busy. Most of the staffs were done by other librarians and we only did some of the desk staffs such as shelving books and checking - we learned how to check out the books - and handing out the name tags. For the rest of the morning tea, we drank apple juice & ate bread and helped other people. we also met Shelley who just started her second work experience.

At the end of the morning tea, I washed the dishes, cups & spoons and Cristian dried them.

Then we went to the Ashfield library and had our lunch time. After that we were at the desk mainly doing the shelf tiding at the junior's book section.

Today, we were mainly in the staff room.

In the morning Ponnary explained about her job which was to help the house bounded people such as older ones and with medical problem. Then we learned how to scan the books that came from the house bounded people and sort out which ones are to be delivered to the Harbourfield Library. We also looked for books that the house bounded people want. They had written some notes which ones fit their individual interests & styles.

After that we went to the Harbourfield Library with Ponnary by the council car to deliver the books, cups, dishes etc for returning and for the Christmas Morning Tea on monday. This special event is for the house bounded people. They were to be picked up on the day by Alex.

After helping Ponnary with the job we had a longer lunchtime and relaxed.

In the afternoon we were again in the staffroom to work for the summer reading events. I did the decoration of the tree ornaments with cellophanes and glues & scissors, and Cristian did the painting and cutting. Then we were sent down to the library to get off the papers and notices on the children's section.
